IPv6 support in Server applications

There are several applications support IPv6 from the box. Some has to be recompilled with with a specific IPv6 enabling switch. Some has a patch that allows IPv6 operations. This page we try to summarise these informations for the most popular applications.

Web servers

Apache2

Apache1

Apache1 does support IPv6 only with external patch (for versions 1.3.11 - 1.3.33). It is better to upgrade to Apache2.

thttpd

Tiny/throttle/turbo HTTP server

Microsoft IIS

The IIS supports IPv6 as described in IIS IPv6 configuration guide.

SMTP servers

A general guideline to IPv6 SMTP servers to avoid problem with broken servers.

Sendmail

Sendmail supports IPv6 since version 8.10, hoewever is a guide to properly configure sendmail in IPv6 environment.

Postfix

Postfix supports IPv6 since version 2.2. Here is a guide to properly configure postfix in IPv6 environment.

Exim

Exim supports IPv6 since version 4.30. Here is a guide to properly configure exim in IPv6 environment.

MS Exchange

MS Exchange does not support ipv6 either in Exchange 2003 or in Exchange 2007. Here you find our test report in hungarian.

Lotus Notes/Domino server

Notes/Domino server supports ipv6 on certain platforms. Here you find ourNotes configuration guide.

qmail

Qmail has not got proper IPv6 support. There is an alternative solution for it.
