Description

Ntop (Network TOP) similar to the Unix to tool that reports processes CPU usage, the administrators needed a simple tool able to report the network top users (hence the term ntop) for quickly identifying those hosts that were currently using most of the available network resources. Ntop focuses on:

The ntop tool architecture is based on three layers : The Sniffing layer responsible on the capture of packets, the Analysing layer proceses packets captured and the reporting layer synthetise collected data and displays statistics to users.
