SMTP server guidelines

In general your MX records can point to servers with IPv6 address: SMTP will use IPv6.

However in case of broken SMTP servers you should include as a last resort MX and IPv4 only entry in your MX lists. See [http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3974 RFC 3974].
