IPv6 support in Server applications

There are several applications support IPv6 from the box. Some has to be recompilled with with a specific IPv6 enabling switch. Some has a patch that allows IPv6 operations. This page we try to summarise these informations for the most popular applications.

Web servers

Apache2

  • [http://httpd.apache.org Apache2] (series 2 (2.x)) does support IPv6 from the box, however here is a [:Apache2Guide: guide] to properly configure Apache2 in IPv6 environment.

Apache1

[http://httpd.apache.org Apache1] does support IPv6 only with external patch (for versions 1.3.11 - 1.3.33). It is better to upgrade to Apache2.

SMTP servers

Sendmail

Exim

MS Exchange

Lotus Notes/Domino server

qmail
